Dynamic Byzantine Broadcast in Asynchronous Message-Passing Systems

چکیده
The reconfiguration problem is considered a key challenge in distributed systems, especially dynamic asynchronous message-passing systems. To keep the data reliability and availability long-lived any protocols should support reconfigurations, to dynamically add resources, or remove old slow machines with newer faster ones. Previous results reconfigurations either rely on consensus, study restricted crash failures only. However, it difficult argue that real-world systems experience In this paper, we dynamic reconfiguration fully Byzantine faults. We first specify broadcast, then clean explicit liveness condition. show broadcast solvable by presenting consistent algorithm reliable algorithm.

Byzantine consensus in asynchronous message-passing systems: a survey
Consensus is a classical distributed systems problem with both theoretical and practical interest. Asynchronous Byzantine consensus is currently at the core of some solutions for the implementation of highlyresilient computing services. This paper surveys Byzantine consensus in message-passing distributed systems, by presenting the main theoretical results in the area, the main classes of algor...
متن کاملEquations for Asynchronous Message Passing
In [Cza 2006] fix-point equations specifying synchronous (”hand-shaking”) communication in distributed systems have been proposed. Their solution yielded a communication network of agents, directly presented as a Petri net-like structure, and determined the global state of the specified system. The net-places represented agents, while transitions transfer of messages. A special algebra being a ...
متن کاملImproved Dynamic Partial-Order Reduction for Asynchronous Message-Passing Programs
This paper presents two algorithmic refinements that improve systematic testing of asynchronous message-passing programs for a fixed input. Such programs can have a large number of possible execution paths due to the nondeterministic interleaving of messages. However, many paths are equivalent, and dynamic partial-order reduction (DPOR) techniques attempt to explore all distinct, feasible behav...
متن کاملParsimonious Asynchronous Byzantine-Fault-Tolerant Atomic Broadcast
Atomic broadcast is a communication primitive that allows a group of n parties to deliver a common sequence of payload messages despite the failure of some parties. We address the problem of asynchronous atomic broadcast when up to t < n/3 parties may exhibit Byzantine behavior. We provide the first protocol with an amortized expected message complexity of O(n) per delivered payload. The most e...
متن کاملImplementing Shared Registers in Asynchronous Message-Passing Systems
A distributed system is comprised of a collection of n processes which communicate with one another. Two means of interprocess communication have been heavily studied. Message-passing systems model computer networks where each process can send information over message channels to other processes. In shared-memory systems, processes communicate less directly by accessing information in shared da...
